Hey SOPA Act! Thanks for telling us which US Representatives support the 1%!

Ah. Once again certain members of Congress are working for the 1%. Surprised? Yeah, me neither.  Seems these two-faced idiots are too controlled by their campaign contributors to realize they are literally shitting on the country.

On the House floor last Wednesday, 12 representatives cosponsored H.R. 3261: Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA). The bill is introduced as a way “to promote prosperity, creativity, entrepreneurship, and innovation by combating the theft of U.S. property, and for other purposes.”

Basically, this bill allows the US Government, at its own discretion, to block any website it deems to be infringing on copyright laws. American sites or foreign, the Attorney General will be given the duty of suing our internet providers  if they do not censor the websites from American eyes. So, yes, this allows our government to censor any domain name that has ANY copyright infringement on its site.

As the bill, which you can read here, has very broad guidelines, the Justice Department can interpret the H.R. however it feels fit. So depending on how the Obama’s administration decides to enforce SOPA, we could have an extremely different internet.

Sites like Tumblr, YouTube, Facebook, any streaming music site, all has some kind of copyright infringement on its’ hands. The song I share on my blog, from the YouTube video you post on your friend’s wall, can all be considered piracy.

So what will determine how the Department of Justice will act? Well DUH, it will all depend how much American media industries are willing to pay. Music, movie, video games, books; every major entertainment industry will want to fund the pockets of SOPA supporters. Which brings us to our next question:

Will this bill pass?

Like I said, it all depends on how much the media industry is willing to spend and lobby members of our trusted Congress.

Berman

Howard Berman [D-CA]

The TV/Movies/Music industry is his biggest industry contributor, giving him $72,000 for his 2012 campaign alone.

Blackburn

Marsha Blackburn [R-TN]

Wow, a Tennessee Congresswoman received $25,000 from the Tv/Movies/Music industry for her 2012 campaign? Man, guess they really just like her THAT much.

Mack

Mary Bono Mack [R-CA]

This red-carpet loving Congresswoman has received $47,550 from the media industry in the last year.

Conyers

John Conyers Jr [D-MI]

Huh, a Michigan Rep receiving $5,000 from the Directors Guild of America, totaling over $8,000 from the Media industry. Directors must LOVE Michigan reps for some reason.

Steve Chabot [R-OH]

Sport entertainment industries and the media industry combined to give Chabot over $20,000 this year. Don’t worry Chabot, nobody will ever know why you are voting for SOPA.

Ted Deutch [D-Fl]

$12,500 for Deutch from the TV/Movies/Music industry.

Rob Goodlatte [R-VA]

The Honorable Goodlatte received $28,500 from the media industry this year. On top of that, he was given $10,000 from the Sports industry. Just sayin’, this guy has got some voting commitments when dealing with that kind of cash.

Tim Griffin [R-AR]

At first glance I couldn’t find the evidence of him being lobbied by the Media industry, but that is because he has received more than $10,000 from fifteen separate industries. So keep smiling Griffin, because $11,150 from the Media industry is just a small fraction of your campaign donations.

Dennis Ross [R-FL]

Hey Mr. Ross, you might not be getting over 70,000 dollars like some of these other Congressional representatives, but $21,500 from the TV/Movies/Music industry ain’t a bad haul.

Adam Schiff [D-CA]

Okay, so I couldn’t find a good picture of you being all “congress,” Schiffy, so I had to resort to your Wikipedia article. Needless to say, as you are from California, you received $38,250 from the Media conglomerates ($10,000 from Universal Records alone).

Lee Terry [R-NE]

Wow, you’ve received over $20,000 contributions from four different industries, and the Music industry only gave you $16,000? Terry, call your campaign office, you are getting ripped off.

Elton Gallegly [R-CA]

And that leaves us with Elton Gallegly, who only received $4,000 from the Media industry. Really, bro? You are worth only $4,000? So if I gave you $5,000, you would not vote for it? Well shit, Fight For the Future, get on that.

It’s a common story. Representatives are lobbied with money by the multibillion dollar industries to pass a few pieces of legislation that will make them maybe another million dollars. Maybe. While Americans from all around the country protest in defiance towards this political and financial greed, our Congress is still going about business as usual. I realize election season is coming up, but you couldn’t stop for just a month, to protect your name a little? Just a little?

These representatives are wieners. Straight-up, good-for-nothing wieners. They are trying to shut down the websites where we discover our favorite music, movies, and tv shows. What a bunch of greedy dicks.

Don’t be so upset though. There are plenty of good representatives throughout Congress. So repost this, spread the message, or call your Congressional Rep and tell them to vote against H.R. 3261 SOPA if it makes it to the floor for vote.

Post with 2 notes

Okay…so.

I am basically reblogging and tagging everything I can, so that in a month or so when I have a decent amount of followers I can post the stuff I really want to talk about and not have my thoughts wasted.

I want to be able to talk about some of the crazy shit on Berserk, but analyze it in a more critical sense. I want to talk about the idiocies of Michele Bachmann, but from a more political theory stand point, not just a “OMG SHES DUMB LOL.” I want to talk about how I think Heavy Rain honestly changed gaming, and what current effects its already having.

The whole reblogging pictures thing sucks. Tumblr in general sucks. I just want to have a place where I can talk about all the cool shit I think of without having to bother my girlfriend.

Fuck.

Wow, I’ve never seen a better picture of somebody’s stupidity.

Degas portrays the seedier side of Parisian café life. The body language and expression of the young girl and her companion show the effects of the rough, poisonous green alcohol, often referred to as the green fairy.
When Degas exhibited the painting it caused public outrage, not least because he had shown well-known celebrities in private. The woman was the actress Ellen André; the man, a bohemian artist named Marcellin Désboutin.
